Then comes a foster dog! Introducing Fozie!
Fozie is a 10 month old boxer/border collie mix. He was born to Snookie, a TINY fawn boxer (hence, her name), and left at the shelter as a tiny baby. He has been at the Hobo Care Boxer Rescue ever since. They only get walked once a week, for about an hour, and that’s IF volunteers show up to walk them. So needless to say, he has a lot of energy. The first time Fozie and I met, he was planning to come live with us, when an adorable family with small children wanted him first. However, they had a hard time dealing with the fact that he had no training at all, and backed out of the adoption. Poor Fozie.
Luckily, he has gotten to know a whole new world since coming to our house! He ran for the first time off a leash, had his first bath,
chewed on his first bone,
got his first belly rub,
first tennis ball,
took his first nap on the couch (I think this is the first time he has EVER been in a house….inside is still very foreign to him),
and his first night sleeping in a dog bed for half the night, and in our bed the second half. Thank God for king sized beds!
Here is what this sweet boy loves right now:
- Sitting on command!
- Curling up into a tight ball OR stretching out. He is so long!
- Sitting on Olive
- Giving kisses
- Snuggling with me 🙂
- Watching Aaron. I think he is a bit shy with men so far.
- Getting treats, especially bacon.
Here are his LEAST favorite things:
- The sliding glass door
- The kennel
- Getting off the couch
- The ceiling fan
- The dog door
- Peeing in the yard. He prefers the deck.
He also has acquired a significant amount of nicknames. If you have a dog, you know how this goes. Foz, Fozzers, Fozwald, Foxie, Fonzie, Foz Dog, etc.
We are so lucky he is such a GOOD dog. For how sad of a life he has had, he is so, so happy. He seems right at home here! It’s a great feeling knowing how much better his life is here until he finds a forever home. He is still up for adoption, and is so far amazing with every other dog he has met, as well as children. If you know of anyone who is interested (after we continue training him of course), please have them contact me!
Olive really likes Fozie as well! She is a bit pouty sometimes, but when we separate them to eat, she can’t wait to get right back to playing with him.
If you are interested in volunteering, or fostering, please ask me for info!
I’ll leave you with a few more pictures of this sweet pup.
Aaaand of course, our number 1 girl!!
